SpeedTools Pro and DiskTools Pro (same exact app, just marketed under a different name for some nefarious reason) are both junk. Though v. 3.9 fixed a lot of problems that probably went unnoticed or at least unfixed for a ridiculous amount of time, they still perform VERY poorly compared to TechTool Pro or even Drive Genius. DiskWarrior is also a superior app for fixing directory problems (the cause of 90% of OS and drive problems in OS X), but its feature set is anemic compared to TechTool Pro, which also seems to have caught up to DW in its directory optimization tech and now all its capabilities are as high or nearly as high quality as any other single- or multi-fuction disk utility available, with the exception of iDefrag, iPartition and Data Rescue for their respective abilities (though TTP’s defragging is now pretty good, it's not equal in quality to iDefrag's). These evaluations apply to Mac OS 10.6 through 10.8 — I haven’t tested these utilities with Mavericks yet. In any case, don’t buy this P.O.S.

This looks to be a clone of Disk Tools Pro, only a few icons are different in the User interface, version numbers are almost identical too, Note: both seem to have a lack of or very slow to appear updates, since Lion or Mountain Lion were released

Intech's SpeedTools Utilites Pro is the original BTW Version 3.8.3 is out and is now Mountain Lion compatible http://www.speedtools.com/STU3.html

@DavyB It's not a clone. It's the same product, just rebranded. SpeedTools is the original. Intech makes both.

Anyone else notice, that inside the updaters downloadable here: https://www.speedtools2.com/store/Login.html There are PowerPC ONLY versions of ZoneBench and QuickBench? Yet they are not PPC only in version 3.6. HUH?

Yeah that's weird? They still support both architectures , PPC/Intel, but so far always separated from each other. Could be that the developers discovered the Universal application/updater :D. Have you tried to contact support? I'm sure they are prepared to help you out by giving the links or information you need. Sincerely.

Very impressive software that contains a suite of tools that will repair and maintain your hard drive, along with utilities to backup, benchmark, etc... This is one of the few products of its kind that I trust to fix my hard drive when I am having problems. Many of the other products on the market today just duplicate Disk Utility and on occasion can do more harm than good and leave you with a drive that you can't access your files. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Funny how the 3.6 version claims "This version is current", when checking for updates... Huh?

I gave the URL provided with my original purchase in 2006 another try. Logged on without a problem and downloaded the Zipped software file. This time it turned out to be the latest 3.6 version. It asked for a serial number and I got a nice Thank you! after entering my original one. Up and running without a hitch.

I haven't received my full version yet although I am happy with the software from using the demo version. The strange thing in this day and age is that they send you a cd/dvd and don't have a download link. How strange is that - haven't come across a company for a long time that does not have a download facility. Strange no one has brought this up before. For example diskwarrior who send a disc have a download, so does drive genius and so does Techtools. Why not Intech? I've downrated by one star because of this ancient last century policy. Also 4.5 was the maximum I was allowed to enter on stability. Would be interested to hear from others who have dealt with this company

Hello Foulger, Thank you for the kind review! Intech is working with OWC on a mechanism to provide downloadable versions now. So, hopefully this option will be available in the very near future. Best regards, -Eric @ Intech

Faith is restored. I just received a very nice note from Eric at Intech - with an explanation of the situation around 3.6. I though I would share Eric's note with all. Thanks again Eric. "I looks like someone found our hidden product page for this upcoming version release and posted the link to MacUpdate before our website was ready for to go. This update was going to be released in mid December - which was going to allow us time to finish the site, the demo and new purchase/support options. Since the new version is now public knowledge, we'll be making changes throughout the site (in real time) over the next couple of weeks to reflect everything that is new. But until then, there will be information on the site that has not been updated. Note: When you login, notice that there is now a serial number just above the download link. Starting with this version, SpeedTools Utilities will now require you to enter this serial number the first time that you run the application. So, please write it down while you are downloading the version. We are sorry for the trouble that this caused. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me." I just finished downloading 3.6 and in the process of installing. Wow!!!!

In case it's not clear, a login/serial# isn't required to download/run the demo.
