Do not get tricked into buying this piece o' krap. M-audio makes some very nice stuff and some utter offal, of which this is one example. One of the great things about firewire and USB was supposed to be their hot-swappability. Apparently no one told them that in this case. I made the mistake of trusting it for a 20 minute set and it cost me 7 of those 20 minutes when it decided to go to sleep while we were waiting to come on and I had to do a cold start - twice - before it decided to behave. It stutters in Digital Performer and blanks out several seconds of audio in anything more than one or two 44.1 stereo tracks. Frankly, the built-in audio on my 15" powerbook trounces all over this in performance, sad but true. I'd basically shelved it since then, but decided to try this new driver. Same lousy performance in DP

Firewire is for the birds. I've had so many problems with FIrewire devices not showing up, hot swap damage, etc. I'm praying for a new and better way to patch into a computer. USB was more stable to me. Who cares if it's not as fast, at least it works and doesn't screw up your computer when you're forced to unplug it or shut it down.
