As I read the comments seeking to demolish Address Book Manipulator for its cost, I am surprised that the comparison would be made to Bento. To think that AB Manipulator is simply a bunch of scripts is to completely show ignorance at what a plugin is all about. The scripts are useless without the plugin to activate the scripts.
But, there is a larger problem here and that is trying to compare FileMaker Pro to Bento. I've tried Bento and it is so NOT to be compared with FileMaker Pro. It is so limiting it's ridiculous. All of my database files are constructed in FileMaker Pro and just because it doesn't talk to Address Book doesn't justify abandoning the program to buy Bento.
AB Manipulator isn't made for those who want to avoid scripting. It is a solution that is well done to move data back and forth from Address Book to FileMaker Pro. It is the only solution that I know of and is worth the price for the developers' time and effort. Why is it that we always expect people to work for us for free? I just don't get it. I'm grateful to have AB Manipulator and I even upgraded my version from 2 to 3 without shedding a tear for the upgrade cost.
Seventy five bucks for a bunch of scripts?? You can buy Bento, which talks to both Address Book and iCal, and have twenty five bucks left in your jeans. Assuming it works, this would be a great $10 utility, but that's about it.

Very dissapointing. The documentation is very poor. Don't waste your time.
Beware!! Address Book Manipulator does not go as far as you may believe. It only works with some of the Address Book fields and the example included int the download does not demonstrate how to synchonise data ( the example deletes all records and replaces them with the records from the Address Book). It cannot work with Groups and other limitations and it would appear that FM2AB and AB2FM, far less costly applescripts, can sychonise better. Support was slow, maybe because of summer and the reply from the developer appeared to be that if one was willing to pay $150 an hour, the developer could custom develop the features that one would expect as part of the original solution.
