I loved the Demo before this update (on G5, 3,5GB)... Let's see if...
OK! I gave Playability 4 stars, not 5 'coz enemies sometimes were getting half corps through the walls. Wait! ...before I got my extra GBs! So, you can read five stars if you ask me now.

I am very disappointed. I thought the update would also fix the sound problem: Sounds stutters very frequently, which is very annoying. The lack of a Quicksave capability is also very frustrating. Wait until they fix those major flaws before you buy this game!

Decided to give this demo another run (now that I've a Radeon 9800 in my comp!)... and remembered why I trashed it in the first place! Someone needs to hire some better sound technicians to put a video game together... I understand maybe killing positional audio (actually stereo seemed trounced altogether- it sounded mono even with expensive headphones on!) to force the player to make use of the visual effects... but this flat out is better off serving the deaf. The second level is quite annoying as it takes a good while to figure out where the men are positioned in relation to where the camera's pointing and where those "taps" of their walking position happen to be (the best description of the effect is Dare Devil The movie meets Batman the old TV series)... I forgot the name of the level because I trashed the demo already... I gave a four for stability... it didn't crash at least! Oh, choosing to QUIT from either level (returning you to the main screen) leads to loading that one might think contained a realtime 3D demo... nice...

I can see why the demo would hurt this game's sales. I played the two levels that were part of the demo, and it's really kind of sad. The game runs fast enough (it better, I have a Radeon 9800! Owners of lesser cards, beware), but the gameplay is pretty bad. Maybe I'm just spoiled on Call Of Duty, but there are just a lot of things I dislike about the game itself. There's no way of precisely aiming for distance shots. Enemies take hit after hit after hit before going down - they seem to have a higher pain tolerance than your own character. Ammo is scarce (which is a problem when the enemies take a full clip to bring down) and there are no save points anywhere.

Usually when I try a game demo, I may like the game but find it unplayable due to a poor porting job that makes it jerky and slow no matter what hardware you use. But in this case, it's just because the game is really, really bad.

I found this game to be pretty good fun actually. Yes, it is a bit linear, but it's still enjoyable to play and the graphics are good.

XIII is lovely to look at, but really fairly mundane and linear in gameplay. I commend Feral in the port, but I would love to find out who decides which games to port at Feral, as there are many fantastic games on PC and consoles that never see the Mac, yet game companies complain we don't buy enough games. Port the games WE want and we'll buy like hotcakes. Anyhow, enough ranting... hopefully other XIII players will enjoy this stylish, if predictable game.

No complaints here. The action is intense and stylish, and complemented by great visuals. Simply superb, IMHO.

I understand why Glenda Adams once stated, during an interview, that demos can "hurt" a game's sales... I'm refraining from XIII after playing these couple of rather uninspiring levels... thanks for having your heart in the right place, though, Feral... now who's going to publish Half Life 2 on the Mac, damnit!?

Yes, it's the same, but with some higher rez bits, and it's slower (typical port nonsense etc.)
