I have installed the 10.2.8 Cross Development Kit and recompiled against 10.2.8. Since it didn't show any errors, I guess it should work now....

But I don't have a 10.2.x System to test.

Can anybody please test it and give me a short feedback.

Thanks.

It could possibly be an issue with the Jaguar implementation of Webkit, I don't know. I don't have 10.2.8, so I can't test it.

I've been looking for a good, simple offline HTML viewer utility, though, something I can just view the HTML fanfiction I've saved over the years without waiting for it to access all the ads, counters, images or what-not - or throwing up errors when they're not available locally. Does HTMLBrowser do that?

Yes, I'm going to test it, now. ^_^

Seems to work fine for my purposes (though I'm on 10.3.9). ^_^
The only thoughts I had about it were that it would be nice to be able to send files to it (the Open With > Other menu doesn't list it as a 'Recommended Application' :/), or drag and drop files/folders on top of the icon, which I now have in my Finder toolbar.

Having .txt files show up in the directory listing and viewable is welcomed, too, as most of my archived fanfiction is in plain text format. Maybe there should be a quick command/button to hide the directory sidebar, though; I don't know.

Thanks!

Developer {Puchu) has replied that ver. 0.1.1 of HTML Browser might work better under Jaguar. Unfortunately, I've tried ver. 0.1, 0.1.1, and now 0.2, all with the same results: HTML files still greyed out in the file chooser window.

Additional information: I'm using Safari 1.0 (ver. 85.5); the files I wish to view were saved with this version of Safari; and another app I use (DevonNote) makes use of Safari WebKit but works fine.

Once again, this is Jaguar 10.2.8. that doesn't seem to be playing nice with HTML Browser. Any further insights would be appreciated.

Developer claims this app will work under Jaguar, but Panther is "recommended".

With Jaguar 10.2.8 it doesn't work for me (HTML files are greyed out in the file chooser window). Anyone else with Jaguar able to make this work for them?

I, too, am unable to use it.

The files are listed on the left column. I highlight the files and nothing happens. I tried various files supported by this HTML Browser and nothing happens.

Or do I miss something?

Using 10.2.8.

You might try installing the Jaguar version of Safari... the description says that HTMLBrowser relies on WebKit - but I don't know just how much of it exists on Jaguar. It's supposed to be less complete than Panther's WebKit support, unfortunately.

Sorry about the trouble....

Well it says 10.3 recomended, because I only have 10.3 to test, but it should run on 10.2 too, as far as I have read the documentation....

In any case it uses the Web Kit Framework, which comes with Safari 1.0 or higher....

You can try the older Version 0.1.1. Maybe this Version works, at least I havn't heard contary comments....

If it works, please let me know.

I'm a web designer and I felt I had to write a review because I've been waiting for a simple app like this one, in fact I was planning to write one with this functionality. A simple preview of HTML docs is not built in into the finder. This App works as advertised. I just WISH the file navigation was a little more like the finder Columns, the navigation window tends to get cluttered while navigating your Hard Drive. Thanks Puchu, great work and keep the good software coming.
