To prevent my Windows "friends" from not getting infected?
They want to use Windows, so they have to make sure they have a decent virus scanner or face the consequences!

Umm... this one's for the viruses and trojans that supposedly affect the Mac (AFAIK, none have been released 'in the wild,' and the trojans were only 'proof of concept' trojans, for which the vulnerabilities have supposedly been patched some time ago.)

There is an alternative: http://www.faq-mac.com/mt/archives/007993.php . It's free.
Or wait to see if Apple changes something, but they might fail to do so, because 'the problem' existed already in Mac OS X 10.0 and Apple said it was no real problem, or something like that...

Another spin-off of Intego's FUD campaign. If you are very, very paranoid but don't want your unfounded fears to make you spend money, here's a free program to get rid of so-called "mp3 trojans": http://openosx.com/support/ . That said, people who fear non-existent viruses might also feel an urge to waste money for no reason, so go ahead and buy this "Achean" thing as well as Intego's virus scanner. And don't forget to delete all files that end with .kext from your system. They are infected by the ominous "[k].ountdown to ext.inction" virus and will make your Mac explode into your face at 0.00 am (Transsylvanian time).

Simply search in the Finder for filename that ends with .mp3 (or .jpg or something) and kind is application. Should do the trick for free. That is, in a few years, when this MP3 thingy finally manages to spread.
