I would have upgraded long ago - loved Version 3, but 4 was buggy and 2008 is . . . buggy on Mac. Crash city. Many, many poeple would like to upgade, but haev waited for AD to display even one iota of concern, publically, for their support for Mac products. Mums the word, just keep the links and auto-purchase links up.
No Mac word from developers. No serious attempts to reach out to the Mac universe, except for the occasional advertisement. No support, no concern from the primarily PC-centric AutoDesk. They even killed ImageModeler for Mac, and everything else but their VR program (recently purchased from RealViz). There's a huge "?" when it comes to AutoDesk.
Note: Guys, I was using Illuminaire in sub 1.0 betas. Once a GREAT product, with so much potential (originally only on the Mac, I might add). If you actually supported the Mac again, then many of us would we'd buy/upgrade your program . . . AE notwithstanding. Combustions vector roto-scoping is excellent, as is tracking and many features (although it would be a nice hesture to upgrade your OEM'd ParticleFX to keep up with the last version by the developer).
So, wouldn't it be nice if AutoDesk representatives would post some reassuring comments . . . anywhere?! In here would be nice. On CreativeCow? Anywhere?
In the software business, no news is usually bad news.
So, when is a stable Combustion 2009---coming out, that's the question? Even a stable 2008 version IN 2009!
Strumming fingers on desk : : :
