Nanosaur 2 is a continuation of the original Nanosaur storyline, yet this time you get to fly a pteradactyl who's loaded with hi-tech weaponry, and the game is much larger than the original 1998 game. In addition to the adventure mode where you blast enemy dinos and save eggs, there are also six two-player levels including racing, capture-the-flag, and battle. Demo available on the MU product page for Nanosaur 2: Hatchling. It is version 2.0.1, version 2.0.3 only available as an updater file.
What's New
Version 2.0.7:
Fixed problem on Level 3 where sky was wrong color.
With colorful graphics that have become a Pangea trademark, you're a lizard which has to gather eggs to survive an ice age. It sounds silly, but the action is involving. It's also quite challenging, once you graduate to the higher levels.
I have recently upgraded to OS 10.5 on my Intel Imac, and I notice that I can no longer select which level to start on (O.K., I'll call it a cheat!) by holding down the F10 button when starting the game. I'd really appreciate any solutions to this problem. Peter Dawson.
I'm still struggling with Level 2 and I can't get through the gates - the ones with a half dome in middle and sharp edges on top. In level 1, I could shoot at the center and sometimes it would open. I could also fly "though" it if I press the jet pack while going up.
So far, in level 2 I just crash! Any helps? I'm getting verrrry frustrated!
Also I saw that using F12 and F2, F3 or F4 could restore health, jet fuel, etc. but these do not work for me. Nothing happens. Any clues why not?
I do enjoy this game though ... it's becoming an addiction. So help this addict get through Level 2 if you can. Thanks!
Well hopefully by now you have figured it all out. Helpful hints. Save all your missles for the robot launchers and those pesky tiny laser R2D2 guys. In level 2, you have to be on the lookout for all the missles launchers and especially those pesky R2D2 laser guys. The gates open when you blast the small statue eyes. Once the eye is blasted the gates open. Don't waste weapons on the big brontosaurs, fly around em. You may need to shoot the TRex especially near the eggs. Use missles...they are your main weapons. Collect every weapons pod you can. Use the spray weapon to disarm the rotating electric towers...each one. You can collect enough of that weapons to keep blasting them til they black out and the elctric field will fall. Missle the robot missle launchers. In the elctric field...circle the outside between the towers and the rock wall, swerving in and out to blast the towers until they are all dead, watch out for the launchers. My order is the palm field, blast the eye to open the gate just outside of that. Collect all the weapons outside the gate before entering. Then the electric field, then the lava pit. Watch for the laser guys here near the volcano.I kill off all the robots first...then collect weapons and eggs. Collect each arae's eggs before moving on to the next area. This level 2 is my favorite. Wait till you get to level 3... the gates have rotating windows...have to time it perfectly...you'll use your thrusters then. Goodluck
Looking for hints. Love the game, although I wish it had more levels. But, sinnce I'm still working my way thru level 3, that's not so bad right now.
One thing I'm wondering - on level 3, you've got all those sandworm things. They pop out of hte ground, no sign they're about to do so, and nothing seems to kill them. I even tried flying directly at their maws and shooting into them, but just got killed.
Is there any strategy to use against them, other than try and avoid being killed by them?
I've played this game constantly for the last 18 months, so there's not much I don't know about it. There is NO way of killing those big grubs that come up out of the ground at you. The only thing you can is get out of their way, and quickly. I find you have a much better chance of getting the eggs near where they are, if you stay really close to the ground.
The linked file is still the 2.0 update. It seems that Pangea hasn't updated the downloadable file to 2.0.1 so far...

game came w/ sister's imac. i transferred to my powerbook and it runs just fine in tiger. no probs here. it's a fun game that takes a minute to learn flight control. but if you have a bit more patience and coordination than the other reviewers, you should have fun. the only downside is that you must complete a level to save a game and the next level begins w/previous stats. all in all, an enjoyable challenge.

Stupid game. I hate it when I check the controls and there is no way to shoot the damn thing. Spacebar doesn't shoot anything. Most boring demo.
I've had this problem too, but I notice that you have to fly through the small rotating discs near the ground to arm yourself. You also have several different weapons, and you are probably trying to fire when you don't have any weapons selected. To change arms, press the left hand Apple key.

Do they test these things BEFORE they release? Crashes in Tiger, same as comment below. Universal must not mean universal is it?

Look into crash log.
In some newer compilings, no more G3 support (even if app is fast enough).
If you have an G3 - thre can be an incorreckt cpu type in the crash log.

You need to look into a spell checker.

Nice idea, fun to play - and I love the stereo mode with anaglyph glasses for a real 3D experience!

That's what the default weapon does.
