At what point should I just take this card out of my machine and call it a day? I'm out of PCI expansion slots, so something useful could probably be put in the Alchemy's place.

Does some other card use the same chipset? Is there some other TV viewing app out there? There used to be bTV for my Hauppauge card in Linux.

I've been using EyeTV on my Miglia USB devices and its GREAT! I'm not sure if it will work on the PCI card however.
I sold this card and wish I hung onto it...

Might as well remove it from your machine. Miglia has discontinued the card and appears to no longer be supporting it. Never released the promised fix for Leopard.

Bah.

A solid update.
Got rid of a lot of annoying bugs in version 2.4.1.
They changed some of the keyboard shortcuts, but I got used to them now.
It also takes up about 5-10% less CPU time then the previous version.

Unfortunately this is the last release, they officially EOL it on their website.

The installer unexpectedly Restarts the computer when you press Quit when finished. Strange.
Anyways v2.4.1. turned out to be a pretty stable version on my G5 so I'm confinced this one will be even better. Thanks to the developers!

NOT compatible with my G5 (PCI-X)...said it was...but it's not!

This is a really junky thing...I had this card (it's a "G4/G5 card,BTW) in my G4...it was okay, but I was looking forward to it in my G5...NOT!

Which powermac do you have? The latest revision use Pci-e which is NOT compatible with PCI cards. PCI-X which came with the non-dualcores is compatible, I'm watching comedy central on my dual 2.5ghz presently. PCI-X was just a revamp of PCI; PCI-E is a completely different system.

The DVR version software is much better than the standard version.
I changed to DVR version and had much less problems.
Still, my G4/800 is just to slow to do the job right in full size.
It should do the compression on the card, and not by the G4 processor. (there is a external version that does that)
With a G5 it should work probably fine - more or less - I think.

… working for 2 hours now, when I decided to open my TV software for some distraction. Exactly then the screen -zap - turned to a nasty grey with something written in different languages. Bummer.

Hello,

Could you please use the 'Send Feedback to Miglia' option in the AlchemyTV DVR menu and send it to support@miglia.com?
Kernel Panics are very uncommon, so let's find out what is going wrong.

It causes a lot of Kernel Panics. This happend in earlier versions but now I pray every time I open the app. If I install it again it works for maybe a day, but then again …

This is no fun.

They seem to have gotten it right with this version...

Although...

I really only use it as a "capture-type" device for a digital cable box, so I couldn't tell you if all of the tuner functions are working properly, but ever since I installed this version it's been running great!

I also have to say that at least this company keeps up with their support of this card/app.
