I really want to try out this game, I remember it from my Atari ST, however, I cannot successfully install SDL, no matter if I try the SDL package(s!) included in this archive, or if I try using Fink, or SDL from libsdl.org.
When looking in /sw/lib/, I would expect to find a symbolic link, but I find a bunch of other stuff.
If I use the SDL Installer.pkg, it says:
"You are not allowed to install the software in the default location on the disk "Boot." Check with the administrator of your computer.
-Funny thing is that I AM the administrator. I even tried chmod 777 on the directories that I would expect it to install into..
-So I'm totally stuck. I use Mac OS X 10.2.8 and have tried installing libSDL 1.2.3 and 1.2.7; no luck.

This classic game is excellent! - one of my favourites from back when I had an Atari ST. Hopefully Rick 2 will be next?

Works great with the fink installed sdl :)
I guess pacakging SDL within the application bundle may make it a bit more Mac-friendly though.

installed SDL library in the default location the installer indicated, 'Frameworks'.
this game does not work in Panther, generates an error:
"dyld: ./xrick can't open library: /sw/lib/libSDL-1.2.0.dylib (no such file or directory, errno=2)(133)"
sure it is the right package installed? you don't use the devel-package!!
you see, by other users it works! the problem must be on your side.

I am not stupid. I can read. I installed the correct SDL package.
Which begs the question, why did you not include this SDL file in your distribution? It is VERY un-Mac-like to have users do this sort of thing for themselves.
this is version 1.0a (alpha). dude, wait for updates!!
i really make an complete .dmg file with readme lib-installation and other things. i only would see, how the game is loaded by the users. round about 1000 dl's on one day is a very good thing and i want make more options for this package!

Still does not work. At least it launches now, but it hangs at 'xrick' and only shows me the 'Hall of Fame' scores. Had to force-quit the game, could not 'quit' it normally.
I have never, ever, had such trouble with any app in OS X. Never.

i can't believe this game is out (even though the developers seem to have forgotten to mention the Atari ST -- yes, the MCIBTYC war still rages!! lol)
Shame that i'm running Panther here (wow never thought i'd say that!). Guess i'll have to wait until the next version..... please make it quick! I cannot wait to play a mac version of this classic. Also don't forget to convert RD2 also!!! :-)
