Brickoids X is a carbon port of Soth Development's take on the classic Arkanoid-style game theme. Brickoids X was one of the very first games for Mac OS X and was brought to the new operating system in the days of the Public Beta.
Good point : the music is nice.
Bad points :
- Below average graphics
- Bad Physics
- No Fullscreen mode
- Flat Sound FX
- No interesting levels
In short : you'd better get the good old Boing! (X11)
Classic game. Just like Break Out. Works great for me except for the fact it causes me to lose valuable time once I start playing...
And it's free. Can't beat it for the price!

The executable image inside this zip has a date back in 2002...
And the game itself doesn't follow the rules of Breakout. Look, in Breakout Physics the paddle is divided into 5-7 logical zones. The trajectory of the ball after a bounce is based only on the zone it's in, not on the velocity of the paddle or the angle of incidence. You can't pull off any of the classic Breakout moves if yu can't depend on that.
As the voice-over says, "Bum-mer".
