This a joke?

An update to an ancient game but the appearance of a serious NEW Mac game is about as likely as the sun going dark.

*Still* my all-time favourite shooter and I'm on Multi-player at least once a week every week since it came out.

I just cannot believe that development is continuing on HALO.

It plays *great* still on Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard, after all these years when I started playing it on Jaguar on an ancient old 1.25Ghz G4 back in the day with a hoary old 128Mb video card. Everything now maxxed out on MacPros.

Kudos to the developer. I'd still pay for upgrades even after all these years. With Halo(4):Reach about to pop mid-Sept'10, I dearly love HALO 3 on the Mac some day... please (yeah, I'm waking up from my slumber right now).

I have Halo 1.5.2. The 2.0.3 updater wants to update something named "Halo Universal", and will not update my version. I have no idea how to get from 1.5.2 to 2.0.3.

As it says, this updater is for versions 2.0 and 2.0.2, the universal binary versions.

The universal binary is a 650 MB download for $5 at: http://www.macgamestore.com/detail.php?ProductID=616

Is this game no longer in production? The "Buy" link above takes me to Amazon where I can buy a USED copy for the bargain basement price of $65! I'd rather buy it than pirate it, but pirate I shall if need be.

Does anyone know where I can buy a new copy for a reasonable price?

I'm using a G5 and version 2 made Halo MUCH faster. Only problem is that I can't change the resolution inside of Halo now.

Oh, I got it! Had to set it to 1280 x 800. Although, I wish it went up to my true resolution (1680 x 1050).

I never finished HALO on my xbox so recently played through an entire campaign in 2 days on my MacPro. No lock-ups or freezes, very smooth frame rate, pretty much perfect and loads of fun.

While I love the fact that the Halo 2.0.3 update makes it so I no longer have to use my CD to play, now my MacBook Pro 17" gets little blinking squares all over the graphics when I try to play the game. A friend with the same computer (but one rev later) has the same problem with the update. Neither of us had the problem prior to installing the update. Haven't had a chance to try it on a PowerPC machine yet.

It means you need to buy a new copy. This updater only works with Version 2.0 of Halo for the Mac.

(Or else you pirated a copy off the internet and your serial has been blocked by MS/Bungie. You'll still need to buy a new copy)

When trying to update to 2.0.1, I get an immediate message stating "The were errors installing, please try again." Reinstalled from my original Halo UB disk, then tried the updater again, and I get the same error message.
