Tone Generator X is an audio application that plays specific musical tones on your Mac.
For my needs... PERFECT ! ... and reasonably priced... Thanks
...excellent program...very simple and effective when you are troubleshooting or calibrating your studio and tielines etc.
Extremely sluggish interface. Other than that it works fine. Seeing as the interface is the application, this program is virtually useless. At least they don't try to charge you for this.
Please, someone make a decent alternative to this program!!
The best point of this program "is" the interface (which is pretty cool), but that's about it. If you are looking for an alternative try "Audio Test 1.1". It actually has testable audio "features" other than the interface. The only drawback I can think of at the moment is that it doesn't output an infinite length tone but instead is limited to a maximum length of 300 seconds. Not sure if that changes after you pay the $5 reg fee. Besides that, you can print the tone down to file @ multiple sample rates. Just import that file into your favorite 2 channel sample editor, create your loop points and presto.
Here is a list of some of the features:
Available wave types: sine wave, triangle wave, sawtooth wave, square wave (variable pulse width), uniform distribution white noise, pink noise, brown noise,
and Gaussian distribution white noise.
