iChatTranscriptConvertor allows you to convert your transcripts saved from iChat (both iChat and iChatAV) to plain text or HTML files. It allows you to do this conversion by simple drag and drop of files and/or folders, or even by having a folder watched continuously for transcript updates.
Formatting control over the converted transcripts include:
- plain text or HTML output
- various time and date formats
- iChat style time stamps
- fixed width columns on plain text conversion
- usage of screen name, or full name from your address book

Like the other reviewer, I too have been wanting and anxiously waiting for something like this to come along. Apple's iChat transcripts were all but useless to me. They were in a proprietary format, and I used to copy-and-paste the text and edit in Word. This piece of software changes everything! It is so quick and simple...and free!
Although it is feature-rich in its free state, I now have a registered version, and I must say that the "watcher" feature is awesome. It makes the conversion fully automatic. No drag-and-drop necessary for a lazy bum like me.
Overall, excellent job!
