Vuze (was Azureus) provides a BitTorrent protocol implementation using Java language. Azureus offers multiple torrent downloads, queueing/priority systems (on torrents and files), start/stop seeding options and instant access to numerous pieces of information about your torrents. Azureus now features an embedded tracker easily set up and ready to use.

I have been a long time Transmission user. However, recently AT&T started throttling P2P traffic and after much research and trial and error, Vuze was the only thing that worked for me. It's not the best looking or the easiest to use but it works.

Man , if only vuze are not that heavy-loly , vuze would be my best choice for handling some torrents ...

but compared to transmission , if vuze was just like transmission , the lightweight app , which one should be the chosen one ?

The half star is because nothing works anymore. Have enjoyed using Azureus for years, now Vuze.
With the introduction of version 4.7 all versions have quit working. I reverted back to 4.2.2 and none of them work.
"Quit working", Vuze 4.6.0.5 on OS 10.6.8 no longer finds ANY TV shows.
Vuze 4.7 on OS 10.7.1 (MBP) won't even startup.
And yes I have installed Java. Although I wonder about swt.
The forums are a waste of time, nothing newer that 2009.
No apparent method to contact the developer.

HELP! I agree with Robert. The older version provided me with a subtitle option on 70% of my downloads. With 4.7 I can't get even one subtitle from opensubtitles.org. Can somebody help me? Maybe something needs to be enabled or disabled in Preferences. Hope it is a simple fix. When I click on the box and am given the choice of opensubtitles.org or file I click on opensubtitles.org just like the older version but it always comes up none available. The older version gave me a choice of an English subtitle available at least 70% of the time.

if you go to their site you can get the new version for osx tiger as-well. i am running it right now in tiger.

This is the fastest and most powerful of the lot. Too bad it's also the ugliest too. LOL

No other client worked with my internet service provider Rogers Cable that throttles and deliberately tries to block torrent traffic.

Thank you team Vuze for bringing the Lion OS fix.

Updated to 4.7 and it is behaving nice now with Lion OS. Thanks for the fixes. This is the only torrent client for power users or people like me with a bad ISP.

I've been using Azureus/Vuze for years and when I read a comment like yours I can only laugh. It is seeding perfectly for myself on both public and private trackers. Whatever your problem was it is on your side or with your ISP. Check the Vuze wiki for more help or use a newb tool like Transmission.

Works as advertised here too. And I agree when I see comments how it doesn't work. If you can't be bothered to do your homework howto setup Vuze then stick to something easy like Transmission.

Looks like 4.6.0.5_B13 fixes Lions issues. At least it's working again here under Lion.

Interface more and more slow (Leopard 10.5.8). One minute to download the torrent file! (normally, 2 seconds). The last updates were a disaster.
I don't have connection problems, it's only Vuze.

Demoray had trouble on 26 Jan 2010

Fatal Java error while installing Vuze 4.3.1.0 on Mac OS 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). Installer quit and failed installation.
This is the first version of Vuze to give me this error.
Reverted to Vuze 4.3.0.6 which works fine.

Damn it, been using Azureus / Vuze for for years, this latest update is now non-working for me. It won't connect to any peers.

Bummer, now I gotta track down an earlier copy prior to 4.2.04 that was still working properly for me.

iMac-Intel with 10.5.7 and all the latest updates, and yes I tried using the NAT/Firewall test, changed the port # , test passed, applied the new port # and still nothing. Peers show up and all of them are not connected or still pending.

WTH !

Reverted back to Vuze 4.2.0.2 and everything is working perfectly again. Thank god they have a Source Forge page for prior versions - http://sourceforge.net/projects/azureus/files/

Stagnent Mind had trouble on 21 Oct 2008

Ok i Got to Know why i have a iNode on my startup drive after running Vuze and why this application is damageing my Start up drive. I checked in disk utility to verify the startup drive it was messed up. after running this app. I had to put in the os X install disc and repair my startup drive. im getting vuze 4.0 now. I would like to know if any others users have had this problem with Vuze.... if there is a Problem with my startup drive again after tryng Vuze 4.0 i will be leaveing a comment here for you to read.

After I installed Vuze 4.0, all torrents I download from torrent sites appear with a Limewire icon. When I double click on the torrent icon in my 'downloads' window, my computer opens up Limewire and downloads from there. Why is this happening and how do I fix it??

Delete LimeWire. Why would you waste Hard Drive space on LW when you have Vuze?

Still has the same bugs since version 3 came out, please fix the bugs! My biggest bug complaint, contextual menu almost never works. I have to force quit the program and restart. FIX PLEASE!

Is there a way or plugin to save the size of the Azureus display window? When I first start it up, it takes up my entire screen. Just annoying! I have to resize it every single time I start up Azureus.
