DeepSix is a simple utility that removes some of the font-related files that can cause some design-based applications to unexpectedly quit, especially Flash and Adobe products. First, the software removes the infamous "AdobeFnt" files that seem to replicate across the system. Secondly, it removes the font cache files from the various libraries across the system. All of these files that are deleted are automatically rebuilt new when they are needed. Normally these can all be removed by hand, but that can be a tremendous time-waster to have to do various times a day in a busy environment. DeepSix will remove these files for you more...

What's New

Version 1.2: This will remove AdobeFNT.lst files, but NOT the dreaded AdobeFNT.DB files. As a side note, none of the people who have downloaded have complained to us that any version of Illustrator on their system didn't work after using DeepSix. The software is now patched to not remove this file just in case. We have also added a log feature to the software to let you know what is being removed and when more...

Sounds great.... and boy, do I need something like this right now.... if only I could get the app to run!

Nothing I do will encourage the application to actually open. Presumably a double-click is all that's required. Sadly not on my TiBook. Nothing, nada.

Shame really.

Oh man, this saved my a$$ bigtime.
The supposedly crashfree Macos drove me nuts with kernel panics and unexpected quits. I spent so much time looking for the cause, reinstalling stuff etc. etc. to no avail that I seriously suspected there was a hardware failure. Thank you, thank you!!!, I just run Deepsix every once in while and happy days are here again. Ten stars for If Then soft!!

I wish there were more utilities like this one. No, not ones that remove corrupt font cache files, but ones that are small, fast and effective, and do just what they set out to do, no more and no less.

Whenever I have had problems with the stability of InDesign or Word (well, problems that aren't related to Application Enhancer, but that's a whole other story), this app has done its work and had me back on the job very quickly indeed. No need to even restart the computer.

Five stars all round, and thank you If Then!

but why the hell do these "nasty" files exist to begin with if they are being encouraged to be trashed???

I wish I knew why these files exist--but I don't. If you look at the Adobe forums most of the problems are easily solved by removing these files--but unfortunately, they are spread out over a whole series of folders. Not a lot of fun to go searching for them every time an app crashes.

In a perfect world, these files would not exist... but Adobe has coded something that OS X does not like: these files. Apparently they get corrupted somehow. Whatever.

But thanks to If Then, you can be easily rid of them. That's the main point.

Fixed my Illustrator crashing--I used to have to remove all of these FNT files by hand but with this app, it seems to find them all and kill them for me. Good work!
