So your telephone can remember 10 or so speed dial numbers, maybe more. Can you? Wouldn't it be great to have all of your contacts available quickly and with no guessing as to whom you are actually calling? Hey, your Mac is a digital hub, right? MacDialer uses your Mac's internal modem or speakers to dial for you. You can create, edit, and call contacts from your personal phone book quickly and easily with MacDialer. MacDialer runs as a system menu bar item that you can use to call someone from any other application. Call your mom while browsing e-mail? No problem. Contact your boss about that

As an Entourage user, I did a lot of research into "dialers", as there are a number of choices in this category, before picking one. In my opinion the best one for compatibility, features, and value for the money was Jon's Phone Tool. I should state that I have a very fast Mac and Jon's Phone tool is still a little slow to load when booting up your machine, but once loaded, in my opinion it seems to outshine the rest. However, if you don't need its features and compatibility, MacDialer may be a fine choice.

I run Panther 10.3.7 on an iMac G5. It crashed my computer on both occassions that I tried to use it last night. Once I double clicked on it all applications hang... Shame, I'm very looking forward to a working version...

While I don't think much of this software (ABDialer is better, Jon's Phone tool is much better), these hangs may not be the fault of MacDialer per se. Mac OS X 10.3.6/7 changed something with the modem and many third-party apps now cause the Mac to hang when the modem is initialized. This (most likely) is an Apple issue.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I don't use the internal model to connect though, I'm on a cable connection using an external motorola modem. Do you still think it's an Apple issue?

Many thanks

Another version that won't launch (the last one was fine, the one before that wouldn't either). But don't trash your working version until you're sure this one works for you.

I don't understand two things about this:

1. Why is this not a free app?

2. Why hasn't Apple put this function into the OS already?

I am sorry - but I really need to post again . After messin' with it for a few minutes I discovered that the only numbers it was crashing on were local numbers I had entered without Area codes . After entering the appropriate code all is working . I thought this might help someone else and wanted to clear this up for the author .

Well I'm back to say my Paid for version of this no longer works . Just like most people here it just quietly disappears when used . No dialing , , just gone . Went to the site to find no way of leaving a message there . Maybe it was the security update just released , I dunno - dang - win some lose some .

Hmmm.. seem to have problems removing this program from my system. I double clicked it twice (by accident) and its now stick two of its icons in my top bar. That doesn't bother me.. but the problem is that it won't quit when i click quit! :'(
