I had terrible problems with my Panther security updates, even though I was running the recommended Disc Utility both before and after. The worst case was when I lost two days of work because it would not recognize my printer, scanner, etc. When I used MacSweeper before and after the updates (in addition to Disc Utility, just in case), I had no problems. Both of the last two security updates (9-16 and 9-30) were problem free.

Mac Sweeper is a nice program that seems to work well. However, this application has possibly the worst application icon/user interface/logo I have ever seen!

I had been considering buying cocktail until I found this, which I am quite pleased with. This doesn't exactly match cocktail in terms of features, but what is has is done right. This is a great utility that shouldn't be overlooked. The help files/installer are pointless though - why not be like every other mac application and just give out a drag/droppable file?

Be careful what you clean. I had to reinstall Panther because I removed system, log, and internet caches. Result: Panther ground to a halt. Apple advise me NEVER to touch anything in the system folder.
Also, repeated need to 'authorize' is rediculous

Hogwash... I clean out the System Log and Internet caches at least twice a week using OnyX. If this was such a horrible thing why would every similar OS X utility, freeware and shareware, have this option? Answer: they wouldn't have it if it was inherently bad.
My installation of 10.3.2 is a dream come true, nearly perfect.

Your trouble is that you probably haven't a clue of what you're doing!!! Your assumption as to the cause of your reinstallation is simply incorrect.

Pretty nice little collection of utilities. I would suggest making the GUI a little more consistent (either all metal or all aqua, not both), and making the buttons and window itself a bit bigger / easier to read.
Also, the more you can mimmick Cocktail in functionality (while still providing this for free), the better. I don't like the bait-and-switch technique that developer followed (Free, then not free).

My question is, why must Mac Sweeper require an installer?
