CPU Director allows you to view and configure the cache and processor clock speed settings on your PowerLogix upgrade card. The included utilities allow you to enable or disable the cache "on the fly", change the speed at which your backside cache operates and automatically enable the cache at this speed at boot time.

If your upgrade uses an IBM 750FX processor, you can also change the processor clock speed "on the fly" as well as the speed at which to set the processor when rebooting. There are also options to disable speculative access (a problem with OldWorld machines that

I installed this update flawlessly on a Blue and White G3 350 mhz upgrade with a Powerlogix 900 mhz zif. After installing this update, I bumped the processor speed to 850 mhz and the computer has been running without any issues whatsoever. I've been waiting for this upgrade and I'm pleased to get it finally.

PLEASE READ !!!!! ****** DON'T Believe the Hype -Below - to a point ****** Was able "to successfully" install "update" the word is install... In safe mode managed to install then never loaded during verbose mode throttle issue. Then with FORCE restart severely corrupted by hard drive to the point where disk first aid in both Install DVD and classic could not fix this is Severe!!!! I had to resort to rebuilding the desktop remember that option??? In classic? After doing that I was able to revert AGAIN Back to 10.4.7 the ONLY stable OS for upgrade cards...

In my Opinion this is MacSales and Powerlogix FEBEL attempt for a fix for an OS that apparently is figuring out how to disable these card from working...

Next year I am buying a new Mac and selling my Card on eBay and NEVER refer anyone to MacSales / OWC again.

They have your money but no support...

4 months waiting for a update that is even worse than 2.3b5 because with 2.3b5 at least you get an error message instead of your OS Freezing.

If this is sign of how PowerLogix and MacSales supports their products, would think twice about supporting them....

Sorry to hear PWRMACTX had a problem when installing CPUD upgrade. (Seems a bit harsh to blame CPUD for all those symptoms? )
My own experience with CPUD (and its previous incarnations such as G3/G4CacheProfiler) has been all good since 2002, through all OS versions from 9.0.4 and X.1.5 through to 9.2.2 and X.4.9. Now eagerly awaiting the next version which will allow me to run X.4.11 on my Wallstreet PowerBook with PowerLogix BlueChip G4/500MHz CPU.
I have been impressed by both OWC and PowerLogix tech support and sales support, as they have always dealt openly, honestly, and reliably, although I live far away in Australia

Had a similar problem installing the new CPU director, was about to re-load the OS (10.4.9), then decided to repair the permissions on my HD, and that have fixed the install problem for me, installed with no issues and is running very good at a PLL setting of 1.1Ghz.

I have the same problem with the same configuration. So, maybe if you find a solution you can let me know. I have tried all of the suggestions with CPU director software with no avail. I have actually given up trying. When
I set speeds over 466 it will disable the catch and work again at 466. I have tried every cach speed option and energy saver option available with no avail.

Hope this helps you from beating a dead horse.

Any solutions would be great. I have spent way to much time on this one allready!!!

Installed 2.3b5 on a Beige G3 running a 1ghz Powerlogix 750GX. Locks up computer every time I change the PLL past 466Mhz. Runs fine in OS9, and with the old version under 10.4.6. What gives?

CPU Director 2.3b5 does not work for 10.4.8 and my configuration, which is:

PowerMac 9600
1 GHz G4 processor upgrade (Sonnet)
1 GB of memory
SATA PCI controller with 80 GB SATA drive in slot A
USB 1.1 PCI card in slot C
Firewire 400 PCI card in slot B
Radeon 9200 video PCI care, in slot F

This same system runs perfectly with 10.4.6 and CPU Director 2.3b4

The 10.4.8 system freezes on any sizeable video traffice, e.g. screen saver with pictures.
