Toast 5 and 6 allow the user to mount a disk image (.iso / .toast) on the desktop as if a cd is in the drive. All applications then thinks a real cd was inserted.

ToastMount uses some parts of Toast to do all this with a simple drag-n-drop (or double-click) instead of launching Toast, select the Menu and choose the image.

Note: This is NOT the same as Disk Image Helper does.

What's New

Version 2.0.1: Thanks to Keith van Stolk-Riley! He mailed me that ToastMount always says there's a new version available if you do not have an internet connection. This has been fixed in 2.0.1

Works terrifically; would be nice if the developer would bother to compile a universal binary. Presently you can download the source code and compile it as i386 with no problems.

This app is brilliant. All of you who have given this a bad review are missing the point of what it's for!

This program allows you to mount a Toast (or .iso) image without launching Toast.

Yes, Apple's disc utility will mount these images, but the system won't see the mount point as if the actual CD/DVD is in the drive (which some applications require).

This app serves a specific function, and it does it very well. Don't give it a bad review just because you don't happen to have a need for what it does.

To make in french, duplicate "German.lproj" and rename to "French.lproj" and inside, open "Localizable.strings" with TextEdit, and paste this:

This app MIGHT -- I'm not sure -- be a fix for a problem with OSX 10.3 changing the way Toast handles files.--?--

Author/someone who knows, please comment? I'm still using Toast 5, and this app isn't supporting it formally, so my review may not be appropriate.

A fairly long and complex workaround for the problem, which I just tripped over and started trying to solve, has been posted by a Roxio moderator recently at their Forum -- see:

Sorry, but this is not a fix for anything. It's only an enhancement to Toast, to simplify it.

REALLY? you can do this? don't seem to work for me.

I think this is good for those who don't have Toast but need to mount .toast files as CDs.

First, I want to defend this guy, and say that this little app mounts differently the toast images than DiskImage.Mounter. It's true and it real works.

But please add more options: like a contextual menu or a quick link to mount images very fast.

And also please, an option, if you check, the app will automatically quit after image mounting.

Last thing: isn't that Roxio's Toast icon ?? hummm. to change .. :)

The old ToastMount had a dock menu to load the images. I forgott this in the new version ;-)

For a contextual menu, simply select your image, goto Open With and select ToastMount.

ToastMount will also terminate if the application was launched because an image was dropped on the icon or open-with was selected.

For the icon: I'm really not a graphic designer, if someone is willing to create a cool icon, please tell me!

this is pure junk.. you can already use toast to mount a disk image, you can use disk copy to mount an image. if you get info on an image and lock the image when you mount it the computer plays it as a real mounted cd. Why waste space on this?

This review is pure junk.

If you wish to rip someone's efforts that may be useful to someone other than you, why rate their product down as 1 star on all categories? I'd lay bets that you didn't even D/L the app to try it.

Why create something like this of OS X?
I've always used Disk Copy to mount Toast
images.

One good purpose: I don't have Toast. It looks rather pricey. I can use a friend's copy of Toast to rip a CD, then get the disk image from him, and use this.
