While I was impressed with the simplicity and friendliness of the interface, I was unable to implement this in the environment I support. The three users in need of contact sharing had no way of preventing duplicates from quickly stacking up. In an address book of 4,000 contacts, a big mess would develop very quickly.
If this happens there is something wrong with your address book database. Address-o-sync only transfers the vCards and "drops" them onto the address book so to say. Read the FAQ within the App to have a clean start with the address books on every computer.
This seems to be a nice application. I appreciate you sharing it. I would like to be able to select what components of an entry is shared, however.
That is, within a company I may have birthdates added to specific entries, but I do not want to share that with everybody on the network. So having somesort of way to strip it before sharing would be keen.
For that matter, is there a way to export an address book entry with certain info not populated in general?
thanks

I testet address-o-matic with Tiger 10.4.2. It hang up!
What's to do?
- Go to System Setup > Sharing > Firewall
- You have to open port 9879 through the firewall.
It workes fine to me … it's a nice solution for non .mac lovers.
