SoulSeek Classic is a client to the SoulSeek network (more information on www.slsk.org). It's a napster-like network with one central server, which forwards searches to all connected clients, which then send their results to searching client. This is the reason why you have to wait for peers connecting to get your results which can last about a minute.
If you get the message that memory is getting low, you might encounter problems, because SoulSeek isn't able to handle any additional connections. So you may not get any search results or your file transfers will fail. You should increase memory for

Basics, basics, basics.
Zap your PRAM, rebuild your Desktop, run Norton or Tech Tool, defragment your files, generally give your Mac some TLC at the very least once a month, and any bugs with Soulseek (and most betas, for that matter) will be kept to a minimum. The love you take is equal to the love you make.

Not many features, not very stable, yet absolutely unbelievable at finding and downloading obscure stuff not found anywhere else.
As for a Performance rating (success rate), it smashes the boundary and catapults off the scale. On OS9, yes!!!

It would just make my day if someone would make a Soulseek client for the Mac that actually WORKED. Everytime I download this I can run it once, when I try to download something it crashes, and after that it crashed all the time, some error with a really long number I can't be bothered to write.

soulseek classic 0.8.4b2 works terrific on my mac g4500. Im running os 9.2 and things are great for the most part. I dramatically increased the memory of ss and it's competent enough...I wish i could see the size of the files, i wish i could adjust the list according to different parameters, but oh well, its fine for now. it does occasionally crash when the queue is super full and i search for something that's relatively popular. good job, and a long time coming!
