Ovolab Phlink... Combined with the Ovolab Telephone Adapter, a small USB device, Ovolab Phlink can answer telephone calls and identify the caller through Caller ID.
Once a call has been answered, Ovolab Phlink is able to record a message, store it on the computer, and send it by email to a predefined email address - encoded in a highly-compressed format such as AAC or 3GPP (the latter can turn a one-minute message into a small, 60KB attachment).
What's New
Version 4.0.3 fixes a subtle threading issue introduced in version 4.0 which could result in instability in environments with complex script setups, and adds support for telephone URLs.
Requirements
PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, Phlink Telephone Adapter (included in the package)

Phlink has been working well for me for years (except the annoying detection of phantom calls based on phone line noise). I believe the company, Ovolab, has discontinued the product, although they maintain the discussion forums. My big question today is whether or not 4.0.3 is compatible with Lion 10.7?
I've moved on from Phlink, since it is not compatible with Lion and the company no longer supports the product. I have found a new friend with the telephone service Ooma. I let Ooma email me my voicemails and keep my call logs - things that Phlink used to do. And, now I can let my computer sleep, since the Ooma system answers the phone.
never seen such a bad program : crashes a lot, the provided Apple scripts simply don't work. Their forum is full of unanswered questions and complains. If you are not an Apple script guru, just forget about it. I bought it, spent hours trying to configure it, and finally threw it to the trash. What a waste of time and money :-(((
The feature make you dream but the software is so bugy that make it unusable even for the basic feature like caller id who work 50% of the time for the same caller. The answering capabality is a pain to install and still do not work well like the overlape of the system greeting and your greeting, answering randomly decide to answer, inaudible answer and I pass. The support is also useless and fill with more question and promise than answer and real help.
I got a VoIP phone - an neither my ISP nor Phlink developers are willing to answer any questions re. this app with my hardware. I have no idea if it would work or not. ....."

Nothing but problems with this software, sure it's feature packed but then maybe that's part of the problem. Switched to PhoneValet and haven't looked back.

I purchased Phlink 2.2.2. three months ago. The software is really good, but it was really unstable. Searching in Google shoed that also other users had simelar problems. They mainly had G5 systems. I purchased the latest revion of the Mac Mini G4. I contacted support and the replied also fast. I received a BETA version of Phlnk 3.0 and this solved my stabilty problems. Now I am awaiting a bug fixed version of Phlink 2. I can not use the 2.2.2 version.
Phlink 3.0 had some really good new features, but I do not need this features, therfor I need a bug fixed version ofor Phlink 2.2.2. Hopefiully I this will be released in the next few days than I can rate this soft/-hardware also 5 star :-)

This solution is just fantastic. All features work as advertised and version 2.2.2 runs stable on Mac OS X 10.4.2. The support I got from Ovolab regarding my rather custom telephone setup has been very fast and helpful.

Is reeally a shame it can't do callerid call waiting. This is the only thing keeping me from buying. I get a tremendous number of calls when I'm already on the phone and not being able to capture the callerid information on those calls prevents Phlink from being complete for me.

A very impressive software. Phlink information center is definetely more than an obvious answering machine. Programming it to run scripts, you can control your Mac by the phone. Well done, go on!
