I have to give an updated review...

I originally used the Sonica with a G4, which shortly after I got it upgraded the processor. The Sonica DID NOT like the upgrade at al...it howled VERY loudly after a few minutes of use.

However, I recently got a G5 and tried it with the G5...IT WORKS GREAT!!! It sounds better than the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 pci CARD (which won't work with in PCI-X slots).

Very happy that the Sonica, that was residing in my "geek closet", works great now!

I love my Sonica Theater. When I "switched" I had a Creative 5.1 speakers and a crappy Creative Soundblaster PCI card that never quite worked in Windows XP. It would give a ringining sound every 10 minutes or completely lockup my PC. With this since it's USB I can plug it into my G5, my G4 server or bring it on the road and hook it up to my 12" PowerBook. It's great. The updated version 1.6 drivers work in Tiger too.

DO NOT BUY THIS INCREDIBLE PIECE OF CRAP!!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN M-AUDIO FOR NOT EXCHANGING THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE AND BASICALLY BAILING OUT AS FAR AS SUPPORT GOES!!!

And the guy looking for support (the other reviewer), I very much doubt you'll get any!

those idiots at m-audio didnt even bother to submit it- theres a new version of the sonica driveer for 10.3- but the damn thing auto activates thier truesurround sound processing everytime u restart, meaning whenever you turn your computer on u have to go to sys. prefs. to turn it off!! grggrrrggr!!!!!!!!
