Interesting to revisit an old review of mine, especially after the latest 2.x update to Numerology. Just needed to clarify what I meant by "super-deep, super-simple."
If you've never used any sequencing software, a drum machine, or a modular analog sequencer before, this is going to take some time to wrap your head around it.
Super-deep and super-simple are polar opposites. Numerology 2.x is incredible, and will require some think different-ing to really expose its power.
The options in 2.x are greater, it's easier for first time users, and still completely awesome!
Best,

Have you ever lusted after monstrous analog modular synthesizers and their insane tweakablity? Did you ever spend hours toying with a portable drum machine, throwing your head about to the beat?
Did you then, finally, spend bucks on a DAW thinking it would be just as fun as when you started, then lost interest because you were always running to RTFM (for the fifteenth time)?
If you know, or want to know, what a sequencer was originally designed to do, if you want insane tweakability without lots of floaty-3d-virtual cables swaying in the breeze, if you only want to RTFM quickly so you can go back to tweaking, bopping and playing with this technology, you need to get Numerology.
The demo was interesting enough to get me to buy, without reading much of the documentation. Then, I started to dive in as necessary - holy hannah, this program rocks!
Very deep, very simple, super-cool and super-duper fun. If you have MIDI synths/samplers, you're going to love this. If you don't have external gear, just download one of the free AU's about the internet as Numerology now directly hosts AU synths and effects.
Look, this review is an unfocused, rambling mess because I was up late last night, playing with Numerology. Tonight, you should be too.
(I'm a licensed user, not an employee. The developer is a programming madman who responds directly to input, issues, problems, etc. He also squashes bugs faster than you can say, "horsefly", and is a really nice guy to boot. Congrats, Jim!)
