the best thing is to buy REASON 2.5, it will do most of your wish list and is pretty easy to get your head around, its also pretty cheap too! (about £200)
hope that helps

EASY
(sorry for my english im french)
Find your program, open the "content" (right button), then select Info.plist and open it with texte edit (yes that easy), then u just choose and change the limits.
IE for me its something like this
AELMinimumCPUSpeedDual
400
AELMinimumCPUSpeedSingle
400
AELMinimumQuickTimeVersion
6.1
AELRequiredCPUType
G4
Choose 300 mgz if u wanna or G3 u choose.
helped ? ;)

which software should I pick if:
• i want to imput and record using a midi controller (keyboard) which plays virtual sounds from a sound library (one-shots)
• i want to be able to use actual recorded audio as well (such as a voice recording)
• i want it to have a virtual drum machine
• i don't have a need for a lot of effects and sophisticated features
• don't have a need for loops or loop editing
thanx

But, when I tried to change the plist "Processor Type" to G3, it didn't load...so it might be a G4 min. in contrast to what the poster below said. Anyways, should at least work on any G4.
please help

Then if you want, you can convert the .aifs to .mp3s by highlighting them and selecting 'convert to MP3' from the menu.

The program in itself is great, though. It's like a cleaner version of ACID for windows. It also has a way better automatic transposer. My only complaint is that after I edit an AIF file in Peak, it causes some kind of error and won't re-open in Soundtrack.
