mlMac is a GUI for mldonkey, a multi-platform multi-networks peer-to-peer client. It includes the binary file inside itself, so you don't need to worry about where/how to install mldonkey. All you have to do is place mlMac somewhere (in /Applications for instance) and launch it.

My dear friends, if an application has a date from "31 Oct 2004", try to contact the creator (from the application, not God), because we're in 2007...
Mis queridos amigos, si una aplicación tiene fecha del "31 de octuber de 2004", traten de contactar al creador (de la aplicación, no Dios), porque estamos en el 2007...
I can't tell what features this has, or how easy it is to use, since it is not working right. I noticed it's been quite a while since this was updated, so it's possible this might be a problem with Tiger. However, as I write this, it has been two hours since the initial launch of this program and it still has a dialog box up saying "Installing mlnet 2.5-16t… Please wait…"
And the blue barber pole just keeps spinning.
There is no way to apparently stop this, other than cmd-opt-esc, since there is no way to exit this program while it is in this state -- it ignores all quit attempts.

Very nice app! FTP at its simple and plain best! Keep it up man. I've been trying a whole bunch of different ftp apps, and thus far, not a single one is as reliable. Take XFactor, LimeWire, and SolarSeek as an example. I'm sure as hell gonna keep this one.

If you tried to DL the file to a volume other than your boot volume then mlMac has put the file in the volumes(folder)/your download folders name - which will be an invisable folder on your boot volume called 'volumes'. try seaching for the file you DL'ed and include invisable files in the criteria... I had the same fustration!!! almost drove me mad. This is obviously a bug

Nice work. Keep it up! Excellent! It's faster and stable. I love it. More than 1 year, I just used mlMac. Right now, I download 63.21 GB, & upload 18.17 GB with mlMac. Maximum bandwidth limits depends on networks. mlMac works perfect in every update under Panther. When is the next update coming??? please. Gnutella, openft, opennap STILL NOT WORK in 2.5-16t mlnet. Bittorrent, donkey, fasttrack, soulseek, directconnect are WORKS perfectly.
Other p2p applications makes me crazy. For example; Limewire is terrible because of not recoverable temporary files, and corruption in download, wiping huge amount of continues downloads, and low speed.

Ever since I installed Mlmac my Stuffit expander freezes everytime I try to expand a file and this is on 2 seperate Macs that I just installed Mlmac. I have tried deleting Mlmac and reinstalling Stuffit to no avail. And ideas?

Your problem is with Stuffit Expander, not mlMac. Open Stuffit Expander and uncheck Allow Version Check.

same as you ronald, I cannot preview in mplayer or vlc. When it first starts up I can preview the files if I also start up mlmac 0.72 or 0.71 and use these apps to preview teh files. this means two versions of mlmac are running. However after mlmac 0.75 has been running for a while I can no longer preview files by this method.

just a follow up to my last post. I trashed the prefs for mlmac and now all is ok. the first time I trashed the prefs it worked spasmodically, but I did it again and reinstalled mlnet as well and it is working well now. There is a lot of info at the mlmac website (in the forums) http://mlmac.org/forum/ so go there and read the posts. There is also information there on the problems with mlnet that prevent it working for long periods as it used to. Also there is a shell script which restarts mlnet to get around this problem.

although a little slow at times, this is the most user friendly way to enjoy the edonkey network, especially if you're not into compiling linux binaries and all that jazz!
I'm having a problem with mlMac. I started the instalation but everytime I try to open the program it says:
"mlMac needs to install the mlnet daemon, but is unable to connect to the Internet. This installation is mandatory, so mlMac will now quit.
Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet before launching mlMac."
Even though my internet is fine at the moment. Can somebody help me out?
mlMac is not maintained anymore, so everytime it starts the program try to contact the mlMac server to update it, if it doesn't find the server ('til now, the server is down) it show up that message and quits! =/
I tried recompiling the code and commenting the update part, but mlMac isn't working. I'm able to play with the program, but the search results doesn't work at all.
I'll try to see if I can fix it (and understand the whole code!).

Help me! Every time I start up Mlmac it just says "Installing mlnet 2.5-16t...Please wait...
Installing new version" even though I have the newest version and I am on panther and this instalation never stops! also any preferences I chance to try and stop this e.g "check versions on launch" just go back to default! Also the only way I can quit is to use force quit.
Hi buddies, I'm having some trouble too, but the preview is working very nice with MPlayer 2.0, but the downloads are very slow, it sims that i'm only uploading for the last days (2 weeks with not a single complete download. And some other thing, i miss gnutella... is no longer working :-(
Hey guys, this app works great for the most part, but i just ran into some trouble and i dont know what happened. I quit mlmac while it was downloading because the pause button wasnt working for some reason and i needed to do some net browsing (im on dialup) but once i started mlmac back up all the downloading files were all GONE and i it doesnt connect anymore. i tried searches and such but its not working. so 2 big 400mb downloads that were just hours away from being completed were lost. any ideas what went wrong or how i can get the files back?
Thanks in Advance
there's a folder called temp in ~/Library/Application Support/Mlmac/
if you're lucky the files are still there and you just have to rename them (identify by size)
you could try the commit button in the web interface too

Reboot your computer and then relaunch MlMac - it should work after that. I had the same repeated problem so went back to version 0.7.1
is there anybody outthere who knows how to get a WORKING connection to SOULSEEK ???

mlMac
great app. everything was going fine, until one day it juddered to a complete stop. And would not connect to the mlnet Daemon, after a few attempts it would quit on me...v.frustrating. What I had to do, and it proved succesful was delete everything including the .app. re-install and try again. Now we're friends again.
another point.. it turns out that if you start downloading a file, say a 600MB film, even if you've only downloaded 1MB of the actuall film, mlMac creates a junk temp file the size of the expected finished file. I have been using the program in work for literally an hour, have downloaded about 100megs of stuff and have lost 3GB of space. Piffle.
Well it seems to work great except after about 2 songs came in it said my hard drive was full. After investigating I found approx 15 strange files created by mlmac that totaled 19 GB in size. The files have nonsense names just random numbers and letters etc.. The path to the files is here:
hard drive/users/library/mlmac/minet/other.
Quitting program and attempting to trash contents of the "other" folder yields a "cannot empty because .... is in use by program", even though no programns are open.
Finally able to empty trash after restart, but now my apple email prefs are mysteriously gone. Also those huge files are created all over again when I launch mlmac.
Am I the only one who gets this problem?
Help.
Thanks,
Al
