What's New
Version 1.5.0:
  • 64-bit build of RedPill for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard only.
Requirements

This screensaver is garbage, don't get it. It was supposed to be a Matrix Style Scroll with the numbers that fall; it's green squares that vary in color. I could've created this screensaver in 2nd grade.

Absolutely awful. A waste of time to download and install.

I've had this saver for many, many years... it's my favourite of all times.
And I've used it on 5 different Macs, which with different OS and I never heard anyone complaining about it (if you read what's on the tin)

This version was wrote ONLY for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
So, it's obvious it will not work with previous versions!! - So I don't understand the complains!?

The author is very clear about that and he also explains he has written other versions exclusively for the previous versions. (I've had them all, successfully working on my Macs)

If you've got an Intel Mac with OS 4 or OS 5 the developer's also got a 32 bit RedPill download on his website.
Works just fine on my MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz. with OS 10.5.8. It's really cool, too.

Of course, that should read OS 10.4 or OS 10.5. MU really should give those who post comments/reviews the option to edit.

You do have that option, albeit time-limited. You make a post and then whilst reviewing it you see a typo, etc., so you go to your (http://www.macupdate.com/users/thus.spake.z) MU page and edit the post.

Works GREAT in 10.5.8 on my G4 12" Powerbook! Strange because it is for Snow Leopard only and is 64Bit!

Although it is mentioned as being ONLY for Snow Leopard, I wonder why the developer did not make the effort to create a Leopard/Snow Leopard dual-compatible release. After all, virtually every other screensaver that has been updated in the past few weeks has managed to be work with both 10.5.x AND 10.6.x.

If you can tell me how to persuade OS X to compile a version that works on all OS releases, I'll give it a try. I've been unable to find the information on the ADC site.

How about chatting with the developers of other screensaver modules which have been recently updated?

(I know this is not a Big Thing -- it's just more of a pain for end-users to try to keep track of what software version is compatible with what OS.)

Disappointed. Won't even launch on my MBP with 10.5.6, it tells me to contact the developer for a newer version.

I tried to install this on my Intel iMac but get the following error:

"You cannot use the screen saver Red Pill on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer vision."

I'd love to see it in action.

Same here with my MacBook Pro. I used it on my TiBook before and I _definitevely_ need this on my MBP, too! Please give us an Intel version! =)

I'm running 10.2.6 on a new dual G4 and when I attempt to drag Red Pill into my Screensaver Folder(of my Library) it won't accept it. I get the message that "the Screensaver folder cannot be modified". Can anyone out there help me?
