Oblique Strategies is a handy little utility meant for creative types. It spits out a random oblique strategy from one of the hundred included in the Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt third edition (the 1979 edition). These little anecdotes are meant to assist you when you're having a tough time with the creative process. The original card set describes them as "Over one hundred worthwhile dilemmas".

Special thanks to Brian Eno, Peter Schmidt and Gregory Taylor. Gregory Taylor's website is a great resource on Eno and Schmidt's Oblique Strategies, and I could not have built this application
What's New
Version 1.2:
  • Updated Tiger Compatibility to prevent a drawing glitch with newer Webcore versions
  • A Show Next Strategy menu item

Following my previous Comment - fortunately the earlier version (1.02) remains on the developer's website for download, presently.

Appears to be broken ie. it isn't running on my OSX 10.3.7! Also, I think the new graphics, those I have succeeded in finding, are a retrograde step. Pity; a great idea is being diminished by poor presentation.

Version 1.1 requires OS X 10.3.

Nice little app. But even nicer if it were littler -- unobtrusive even, such as if it were implemented as a service item instead. Why make an entire app for this? If it were a service item, you could bring up an Oblique Strategy with a simple keystroke no matter what application you were in.

That is a very good idea... make this an OS X services item, yes, please!

I thought this would be lame and useless....until i used it. Kudos. Very helpful while designing and creating.

Cool... (and thanks to the developer) but I miss the spacey music that was part of the Classic Mac OS version.
