RailModeller is a solution to create layouts for model railroads and slot car systems in an intuitive and flexible way on your Mac.

Layouts are built by simply dragging the tracks from the library to the layout. Tracks magnetically snap to free track-segments on the trackplan, automatically rotate to the correct angle and can optionally be colorized automatically to match the color of the segment.

  • Build trackplans via Drag and Drop - Choose elements from the various supplied libraries, drop them on the trackplan or append them to elements in your trackplan.
  • Build in any scale - more...

I have been using RailModeller for a while, and as a Mac user, it gives me everything I need to plan my layout.
There are many advanced features (3D view, helixes, levels) that require some experience. However, designing the basis layout is extremely easy thanks to the extensive track libraries. In my case (N-Scale, Europe), I have always found the pieces I was looking for.

Thanks for bringing model railroad planning to the Mac!

I decided to get back into Model Railroading with a carefully thought out plan to avoid a "mission impossible." I choice my modeling subject, historical period, and scale strategically so that I could actually end up with a working model railroad. Having given myself a fighting chance, RailModeller was absolutely essential in ruling out all sorts of track layouts that would have ultimately been a dead-end. By trying out many combinations in the computer, I managed to narrow down to an arrangement that fit the space where the railroad would occupy. I tried several possible railroad designs. All this was only possible because of RailModeller.

After getting started on my model railroad, the best made plans - still didn't work out. What started out as a logging camp and associated railroad eventually evolved into a museum that represented an earlier logging camp. RailModeller once more was invaluable in making the changes to the layout that was in progress.

My layout is still not finished, but at least it has purpose and thanks to RailModeller, the design was tested before I started putting track on the benchwork. For the first time I have a reasonable model railroad and I very much thank the developers of RailModeller for this.

Is there a way with this program to have it automatically fill in the gap? What I means is, I layout a section of track that almost completes a circuit, then the program automatically figures out what track to add, and how, in order to connect the ends. If not, is there a program out there that can do this? Preferably on the Mac, but Windows or Linux would be possible if need be.

I think the "close gaps with pieces of sectional tracks" feature claims to to exactly what you are looking for?

This is a top notch program for designing sectional track plans using a large variety of libraries in all scales. The 3D view of the finished track plan is a especially nice feature. Upgrades and improvements are in the works for the future and will add numerous enhancements to this program.
Highly recommended.

Nice product so far I am happy with it. Thanks
makes my planning 1000% easier. No more erasing lines with a template - great flexibility in the amount of scales included.

I would have loved to check out this software -- IF I could have gotten past the About Box. No matter where I clicked or what combination of key-clicks I tried, I could not get the About Box to go away! :(
