This program locks up every time I double-click a document to open it when AbiWord is already open.
Text is unreadable with wacked-out letter spacing. Sometimes letters completely disappear! This is completely inexcusable for a word editor.
Other features/ bugs? What's the point? If it can't even work at it's most basic function, there is no point in considering any other feature this program may have.

I never got far enough to try any other features. As mentioned by others, if I can't tell whether I have a space in the middle of a word or not, and can't tell where the cursor is, it is not a usable word-processing app.

I managed to find 2.2.11 which seems to work well and saves to M$ doc format by default with a little tweaking. I prefer it to the latest NeoOffice and OpenOffice offerings.
Am very keen to see a 2.4.5 version that works and has been compiled as an intel binary.

I hate to rag on open source developers, but guys: adding more features at this point is like shoeing a dead horse.
Why? The one thing any text editor/word processor should do is render the text perfectly...true WYSIWYG. AbiWord in its present state of developement for OSX cannot even claim that.
Regardless of the font used, AbiWord overlaps letter, will merge 2 letters to that they display and print on top of each other, cuts off the hanging portion of letters like g, j, p, q, etc. Spacing is hit or miss, with certain words spaced properly and other appear to be double-spaced.
AbiWord v 2.4.4 is not ready for primetime.

I recall earlier versions being slow, but in a visually working state. This is just broken.

I am saddened that it is so visually hard to use.
