If you open an .otf or .ttf file that has OpenType Layout tables with TypeTool 3.0 or with FontLab Studio 5.0.x, save the file as .vfb, and then open the .vfb file in TypeTool 3.1 build 4345, the name tags of the stored binary OpenType Layout tables will be reversed. If you then go ahead generate an .otf or .ttf file, the OpenType Layout tables will become unusable.
Note: this only happens if you open a .vfb file in TypeTool 3.1 build 4345 that was previously saved in TypeTool 3.0 or FontLab Studio 5.0, and only when originally, that .vfb file came from opening an existing .otf or .ttf font file. This problem does not occur if you open the .otf or .ttf font file in TypeTool 3.1 directly, or if your .vfb was started from scratch. And the problem only affects stored OpenType Layout tables.

It's been 3+ years and we're still waiting for an Intel-native update to FontLab's $2,000 AsiaFont Studio suite. The developer's response has been to complain that porting the source code is "really hard work", and to question why customers would "need" an update.
If FontLab won't even offer decent software support on a $2,000 SLA for their flagship product, the chances of getting anything from them for an entry-level product like TypeTool are next to none.

Much more intuitive, easier to navigate, easier to play with... and easier to create OpenType for both Macs and PCs effortlessly. It all just works! I just converted an old problem Type 1 Postscript font I designed way back in the early days and it converted everything in the MacPro instantly, saved it out, dumped it into the management of Linotype Font Explorer and Quark 7 was using it 60 seconds later from start to finish. Awesome! How a Mac application should be.
Now bought and paid for. A steal at $99 bucks. Unless you're a professional typographer you'll only ever need this one if you're in the general design industry. Works faultlessly on Tiger OSX 10.4.11 on MacPro.

For $99 the feature-set competes with FontForge which is free but remains a beta, open-source, X11 challenge up to which many people are not.
