While I may agree with the comment that this is not an ad-hoc support type, MacUpdate's comment form does provide a "Troubleshooting" review type. If MacUpdate wanted to explicitly prevent those types of comments, they surely would have removed that option.
I agree with the second poster's remarks. It would seem to me to be common sense that contacting the developer is the the best first step when a user encounters a problem with a given software. However, when that does not avail a solution, subsequently posting here on MacUpdate with a request for help may be of use, other users may have a solution.

any way for this to automatically update the ip address for a given host in the event the host has a dynamic ip address?

Try DynDNS, and use the dyndns-adress in Network Beacon. Works for me.
