mpc2aiff is a front-end interface for the command-line utility mppdec (by Frank Klemm), which will decode mpc files (musepack's mpeg plus) to aif format. If you usually surf the web and share music, then you should know what is this format (or at least the mac-unplayable ".mpc" extension), a high quality compression algorithm based on MPEG. mpc2aiff will convert these files to ".aif", suitable to burn to a CD or whatever other utility you give them.

What's New

Version 1.2 adds the following:

Added support for mppdec's newest version (1.15r), compiled by Dibrom.
Added mppenc, which allows encoding wav files to mpc format.
Now, files are never overwritten, and new files are renamed sequentially.
Added Spanish and French localization of docs (this one thanks to Gautier Michelin).
Added French localization (Laurent Ernwein), German (Mirco Ropic) and italian (Paolo Santi)

mpc2aiff still works for me (under Rosetta) and I couldn't find a new binary -Intel- for mppdec (and not sure one will exist?)... Just a follow-up!

No problems, though, I guess. I think mpc will be a open-source library and someone (or everyone) will add support for it in their sound players.

Otherwise, you can stick using mpc2aiff or the more recent PPC binary at http://www.musepack.net/

Worked great for me and my first 13 tracks mpc conversion.
Not full of features but it is usefull, simple and...free!

no problems getting it to open. works great. (iMac flat-screen G4 15" 800MHz OS X 10.3.8)

10.3.8, 1 GHz Powerbook...does NOT LAUNCH...!
Does anyone know what the problem might be, or if there is another program that does mpc conversion?

Well the application just DOES NOT launch on my G4 with os 10.3.5
I was wondering if I had to install mppdec with Fink so I did but still, mpc2aiff does not launch...

mpc is a great "nother" audio format but this program solves the playability issue. Thanks...nice looking, simple and compact. Perfect!

Worked like a charm. I am running Panther on a 15 inch 2002 iMac, no problems, converted fine played on iTunes 4.5 so far so good.

It did not launch for me, nor for a friend who has a G5 w/ panther. I have a G4 400 w/jag.

I suggest you take a look at if you are unable to launch the app.
