Clutter places music CDs on your desktop. Each one looks like the real CD's cover. Drag them anywhere -- line them up neatly or put them in piles, it's your choice. Double-clicking one tells iTunes or SlimServer to play that CD.

What's New

Version 1.0b2:
  • New image, courtesy of Laurent Baumann, for an album whose cover isn't known: a round(!) gold CD.
  • Clutter is better about repositioning windows that no longer fit onscreen (due to a resolution change, or disconnecting a display) and restoring them to their original position when possible.
  • You can now type or use the arrow keys in the browser window without having to more...

Requirements

Mac OS X 10.2 or later, iTunes 4.5 or later

This SuperGreat app really needs updating. but you can still do your own searches or put whatever images into the album window. And the basic functionality still works. at least on my tiger. so its not useless if it can still be downloaded..

An enjoyable, if not well crafted little app that makes the iTunes experience that much better.

other things: I cannot launch iTunes anymore with this version (using osx 10.3.9), golden CDs are ugly and should be in a box don't want them to be streaked.

If I have an artist with albums names starting with the same words (OK I'll explain: for example "live" & "live in Paris") the clutter playlist(iTunes) for the "live" album will contain also "live in Paris".

how to force clutter to notice that there is now an artwork for the album?
I first played it without the artwork added to the mp3 files, and clutter wasn't able to find it on amazon, so it used a CD with the name of the album on it as artwork. And now, it doesn't want to load the artwork which is stored in the mp3 files... Restarted clutter, doesn't changed anything.

I forgot to say the browser is great except for the fact that the left two collumn widths need to be adjustable. First thing i did was resize it to much larger dimensions, only to see those columns shrink to about 1/4 inch wide.

Clutter also needs to include a little more information on the generic (without art) desktop discs. I don't know what's about to play when all the disk says is "Greatest Hits".

I wouldn't mind if it had a choice to enlarge small art to the size of the window.

Does what it does very slickly with a simple interface.

Not what i was looking for since i want to batch-add art to tracks, but i'll hang onto it as a sleek way to display currently playing track art and i like the desktop disks (except there should be alternative graphics to that gold disk)

I LOVE this little critter. My music IS my iMac and I have spent soooo many hours hunting for, downloading and putting artwork on iTunes. THIS IS AWESOME....

I realize your post is 7 months old but if you don't know, you can name batches with iTunes already. Command click on the file set (highlight them all), then right click and 'get info', you'll get the same panel as for individual songs with the exception of the song title, enter the pertinate info and for the artwork, doubleclick the artwork square and that will pop up your browse window. And you're on your way.

This is an ingenius app. Amazing work with a simple idea and a very user friendly execution!
For those people who don't like the new Gold CD, right-click on clutter and go to show package contents. You should find the Gold CD image inside the resources folder. Open it in your favourite image editing application and you can either make a new one or (like I did) just change the CD to be silver or whatever coulour you want. Please make sure you leave the original in the resources folder though, somebody probably worked hard on that don't bash it completely it deserves credit, we just have a different taste :-)
