shadowClipboard is the clipboard manager for Mac OS X. It remembers a user definable number of items copied to the clipboard. A choice of two interfaces (a simple and an advanced) let you choose which item to paste into applications. shadowClipboard offers Clipboard Sharing for sharing you copied items with other users on the local network.

I suppose I could. Except that I don't get to try a demo of that program, do I? In fact, that developer wants me to shell out $20 up front just to see if I like that program. And when I click the "Support" button on the link you provide (assuming I might even be offered my money back if I don't like the $20 "demo" I have to buy), it comes up in what I think is Japanese. So, what's your compelling reason for why I should use this?
I've been using ShadowClipBoard for many years. Since version 1.0. It has been absolutely reliable for me. I don't use Spaces, so I can't comment on any issues related to that. I am a software developer and use code snippets like crazy and I'd hate to guess how many times I've invoked ShadowClipBoard. It's one of my most used pieces of software and one of the best investments I've made. I couldn't recommend it more highly. Will it continue to be around? Who ever knows, but it's sure been around a long time and that says a lot for it. I've tried many many other clipboard managers (every one I can find) and nothing has matched it or beat it yet.
While shadowClipboard has not been updated in a long time, it still works on my MacPro with OS X 10.6.5. Unfortunately, when you buy shareware it's often hard to know if or for how long the developer will continue to support it. This can leave you feeling like you backed the wrong horse when development seems to cease, yet, as is the case here, if an app was well designed in the first place it may continue to work indefinitely. Apparently, with all the changes in OS X, Apple has not altered the underlying functionality of the clipboard; as long as this is the case, shadowClipboard will probably continue to function. That said, I wouldn't recommend it to new users; you would probably do better to find a clipboard utility that is still in active development.
Abandonware? It looks like the update to address an issue with Spaces hasn't happened and the last forum post was almost a year ago. It's been even longer since the developer has responded on their own forum.
shadowClipboard works great for me on 10.5 but I don't use Spaces and someday I will have to leave 10.5 behind, I like shadowClipboard with it's dual interfaces and hope when the day comes it can come along with me.
I've really enjoyed using ShadowClipboard, but am about to upgrade to Leapord and am not sure if it's compatible.
The stupidfish site seems like it hasn't been updated in a while. I was using iclip before shadow, but it looks like they bit the dust. Anyone know if shadow is being developed anymore?
PS. If you are the shadowclipboard stalker, please don't respond.
shadowClipboard 3.0.5 is Leopard compatible although if you use it in advanced mode and have Spaces enabled it will always switch to the Space where you first opened it. An update is in the works which should fix this problem and - among other new features - will sort out the clipboard file size increase problem that some users are experiencing.
Great app. I've been running it now for several months and it is stable. I love helpful apps, but more important is they need to they keep my system stable, and this one does. If an app doesn't, I don't keep it.
In terms of operation, it stays out of my way until I access it, and does well what it's meant to do. Nice GUI too.
Please feel free to report this to MacUpdate. I'm available to answer any questions they may have regarding my post.
I've read your posts here, as well as on the developer's website. I merely asked a very simple question based on your comments in both places. If you can't answer my question that is fine, but why insist on making such absurd accusations?
Without posting any facts, and after reading your posts both here and at the developer's forum as I mentioned earlier, it's hard to take you seriously.
I don't understand how asking you a question is considered harassment. I guess there are things in this world that I will never understand. You are one of them ;-)
I thought they were the ones who were supposed to email me based on your absurd accusation.
Weren't you going to report me about a week ago?
Now, instead of wasting my time, MacUpdate's time, and the time of anyone interested in reading about this program, could you actually post anything concrete and specific about the program's bugs? Was my request such a difficult task?
Until that happens I won't bother replying to you again.
I tried this program on my G4 laptop running 10.4.6. It kept crashing on me and did not keep its settings. Worse, I made the mistake of trying to get it to run several times, and it did something to the communication function of my system. I was suddenly unable to send e-mails via Thunderbird. Then I tried using Entourage, only to discover that my MS Office programs suddenly could not find or use various resources. They, too, suddenly began to crash. I ended up having to wipe my drive clean and reinstall. Since people have reported that this program "phones home," I'm concerned that there's something in that protocol which affected my system's communication abilities. I'm not saying the author is doing anything deliberately sneaky, but there could be some programming issues to address. Unfortunately, the author has not returned my e-mail inquiries. I went back to using iClip and DropDrawers for copying and pasting text clips.
Vicious problem happened to me while testing this application. I was evaluating it today and it all ended up bogging down my computer to a nearly 100% stall, where I was unable to do anything. I don't remember what exactly I was doing in the app, but I noticed that it rapidly hit something in my Edit menu, since that menu was blinking like a "stroboscope". I think it was when I just clicked on a picture-type of clipboard item in shadowClipboard when it happened.
Might have something to do with the fact that I simultaneously had a similar application running (Jumpcut) at the time I tested shadowClipboard. And after a second thought, Jumpcut doesn't allow for image clipboards, it's text-only, so that's a possible theory for what happened. But when I finally reached Terminal and shadowClipboard's pid, and killed it, everything went back to normal. If the problem occurs once again, while still having Jumpcut on, I'll try killing Jumpcut instead, in order to see if I can zero in on the problem as being Jumpcut related.
Now, I know, if you use shadowClipboard, that you don't need Jumpcut or any ditto app, but I just thought I'd report the occurrence I just experienced in here anyway.

Can't live without it. It's completely hidden, and I just use one key to access it in simple mode.

It's hard to take your rating seriously based on your posts and your history with this developer, so would you at least post something concrete?
Thanks.

It is slick and avoids feature bloat and seems pretty lightweight on system resources.
