What's New
Version 6.0.4:
  • Unified Desktop: unified support for synching a single desktop database with multiple devices (iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry). This is done using an email ID for your username instead of the device name. This way you sync all devices to the same desktop user identified by the email address.
  • Redesigned and upgraded user interface: Includes new button style with labels, familiar top toolbar that is highly customizable, snazzy new detail pane, bigger edit dialog with simplified buttons.
  • Pattern login: If you are a fan of this feature on the iPhone application, you can now use the same method to login to the desktop.
  • Safari plugin now supports Other Record Types. So you can find and copy credit card numbers on the fly when using the browser.
  • Reminder feature for individual records. To use it, double click a record to edit, then click the Reminder button. Choose the date in the future you want to be reminded to update the record. Save. You'll get the reminder when you launch on that day. Great for passwords that you need to change regularly or credit cards expiration dates.
  • All Types listing now appears in the Type panel. Check this updated Panel View out if you are a steadfast fan of the list view.

Please note: this is an optional paid upgrade from version 5 or earlier. It costs $9.95 to upgrade.

I cannot get this software to work on Lion. I migrated my data from an older Mac to a new one and SplashID no longer works. I have had more problems with this software since they went to version 6. It is no longer worth trying to work with for me.

Okay, so I'll have to eat my words some. I contacted their support and got a very quick response which solved my problems. It is now working in Lion and I have all of my data back (which had turned to garbage. Not sure how to adjust my rating. I would give it a 3 now. It is still not as reliable as it should be.

Seems that mSecure syncs the same way as this junk. Has anyone tried it? I've dumped (flushed) so much money on this Splash software that I MUST try TRIALS now before I buy anymore 'syncing' software for desktop/iphone. This is a HUGE problem w/ the MacAppStore where you can't download TRIALS or receive REFUNDS.

I use SplashID Safe 6.0.4 on my MBPro, syncing without problems to Ipad and Iphone. Yesterday I purchased the Android version 6.0.3, but no syncing! It establishes a connection, but doesn't sync any records. Spending a considerable amount, purchasing both the desktop version as well as all of the handhelds, you would expect better.

For the life of me, I can't get my iPhone and MacBookPro SplashID data to sync. This is starting to remind me of the PALM days when I eventually stomped my PALM to death.

Indeed, I've asked for a refund. Trying to make this work is interminable.

OK: Got it working on my MacPro, but, not MBP 13"
Will keep trying (aka Palm?).

I've been using SplashID since mid 2001. I've started getting emails offering me a commission on sales they derive through me; three in the last twelve hours. Oddly enough, the emails come from the iambic.com domain. SplashData appears to have acquired Iambic last spring. 1Password seems to be a nice solid app these days, and I don't much like dealing with a company doing this sort of thing. No doubt it was a mistake.

I have been using this for years and it is still the best of breed for managing passwords.

I really wanted to like this program because I dislike 1Password's extremely gaudy interface and wanted a simple, clean password manager that would have auto saving in a web browser and an iPhone client.

Unfortunately, this product is lame for several reasons. first of all, the interface of this one is the polar opposite of 1Password's. If 1Password is gaudy and overkill this interface is austere and looks like it had never seen an interface designer with no attention to detail or refinement in layout, formatting of text in fields or any other aspect.

Furthermore, the Safari plugin runs only in 32-bit mode and this is months after Safari 5 was released. That says to me that the developer is either lazy or disinterested further development and doesn't deserve my money

The other thing that really get's me is that to truly use and test the app I need to buy the $10 iPhone application. Why not offer a limited free version like many developers do?

I suppose I'll settle on 1Password because there are no other options out there, I wish this developer would get their act together and update this app in the ways I mentioned but as it stands now it pales in comparison to 1Password and should be avoided.

I'm just the opposite, in that 1Password seems to be more eye candy than anything else.

Granted the browser feature is great, but the very limiting customization and import features of 1Password make it impossible for me to convert. With dozens of password entries in SplashID and equal that in software info from Bento, the manual time to make this transfer is not worth the features.

I agree SplashID looks like something from 2003, but it is VERY effective in collecting your data, protecting, categorizing, allowing customization and synchronization across desktop & mobile. I have no problems in getting to my info quickly yet securely.

In the end, that's why I got this password protection...regardless of how it looks.

This application has a very odd design that limits its usefulness to me. Specifically, it does not use the traditional MacOS paradigm of files and documents. This means that there is no way to maintain (in the traditional MacOS sense) several different data files. The application does implement its own 'users' system whereby different sets of data may be kept, but it is clumsy and unintuitive. I have not been able to figure out a way to have two sets of data open at the same time from different 'users'. If the app used the standard document based paradigm, them it would simply be a matter of saving or opening one or more distinct document files... Unfortunately, this does not seem to be possible with SplashID for MacOS X desktop.

Release 5.2 is an iPhone dependent release. I just want the regular Desktop application. I am running 5.1 and it doesn't require an iPhone or iPod Touch. This new release 5.2 requires you have the iPhone or iPod attached before setting up.

Actually, there is a standalone version that does not require an iPhone nor an iTouch. It appears some people are unable to read a webpage or ask the question before making a comment here!

Go check the Splash Data website and you will see a version for downloading. Great software, not perfect, but great. Used it with my old Palm Treo and now iPhone.

In the past year I upgraded to v4 to sync with my palm. But this version has been plagued with duplication of entries during the sync process that is very frustrating. Splashdata support has been virtually non-existant these days. Posts to their forums and emails to their technical support go unanswered. In my eyes Splashdata had been one of the best developers for the Palm with Mac destop support. Now I am looking for another password manager to replace it. Very sad.
