This wasn't slated by us to be released as a beta. Of course, there were errors to review.

Pardon me, but I do not think I want to use a program that is supposed to check grammar and spelling when, on their support page, they refer to "Frequently Asked Questions" as FAQ's.

"Questions" is plural. There is no need for an apostrophe-s as this denotes possession! See it for yourself at http://www.linguisoft.com/support.html

Even if this has become common usage, it is still grammatically incorrect. Gimme a break!

@NCD
That may be so, but the developers changed it on their website. Their Support page now has FAQ and FAQs — no apostrophe!
Good for them!

I'm sorry but I refuse to pay for an upgrade when in the 4 years I've owned this app you've release maybe 1 subpar update. What a bunch of nonsense.

The program is an essential computer secretary for proofreading. It works well, and catches mistakes, stopping me from submitting papers with careless errors.

Damn, purchased this program for about one year with very few update. Now the 2.0 version came out and ask for $25 update fee. And you can not find the link for purchasing an update license on the developer's website (the only link is to pay $49 for a new license)!

From their website:
"Upgrade purchasing is done only via the Grammarian PRO2 X application. Installing and running the Grammarian PRO2 X application will show you whether you are eligible for the special upgrade price and will also allow you to purchase the upgrade directly. You must have an active internet connection to do this."

Grammarian Pro2 X was in development for some 4-5 years I think. I've been running beta versions for so long that I sometimes thought the developer had passed away or given up working on the application. So, all those new features aren't that exciting for me now... but I'm really happy to see that Grammarian X2 Pro has made it to MacUpdate... it's been a long way coming.

Folks, remember to look to the source (developer's website) if you don't find information that pertains to the upgrades/updates. This site is more of a hand-me-down information third-party-controlled site. As a fact, I listed the PRO2 upgrade earlier, but the listing was deleted. And NOW days later, I'm still communicating with MacUpdate to sort this out with a proper and correct listing.

Gryphonent, you are an interface beta tester. A bulk of the PRO2 R&D has been on grammar and spelling, and ground-breaking proprietary lingual research takes time. This product has been in development for over 28-years. The main design goal of PRO2 was to further the core quality of grammar and spelling checking.

Folks, if you have questions or you seek answers, please look to our website http://linguisoft.com or send an email to ME. Thanks to those kind and wonderful people who help out here!

I wish updates to the program were more frequent. Seems like it has been more than one year since a new version.

This app does not look and feel anything like a proper Apple application.

It messes up styles when corrections are pasted in Pages, it is difficult to install, it is overly complex to use, and the fact that you have to install Rosetta to uninstall it tells how old and outdated it is.

The grammer quality itself is sort of good; it misses some errors but not more than what I have seen elsewhere. It has no option for learning a custom grammer construction, however, which is annoying. Also, I am now waiting for support to get back to me - the entire app stopped working after a few weeks and after wasting about an hour, I had to give up and write to support.

This app doesn't cost much and doesn't offer much value in return. It does get you irritated, though.

@ ALROE

For one thing, you spelled 'grammar' wrong. To learn proper grammar, spelling, and so on, you have to be extra persistent and conscientiously check everything you write, even short emails.

I have Grammarian Pro X, It was easy to install and use. I didn't have to read any instructions... just looked at the menus which were self-explanatory.

Aside from that, people expecting to all-of-a sudden start outputting professional-looking documents, with Grammarian and the like, are in for a rude awakening. Nothing beats a human editor. I found that GPX often makes silly errors; takes words or phrases out-of-context.

But it's great for finding misplaced and misused commas, periods, and so on... avoiding the need to search word-by-word through a long text. And if you put your text through Options>Statistics, the software grades your writing for readability in comparison with famous writers (not for talent, just readability level haha.) One piece of mine was compared to an Ernest Hemingway short story lol

Anyway, definitely worth the 40 bucks.

I'm now using this program for my my MacBook (2.4 Intel core 2 duo; 2 GB RAM) and my girlfriends Mac mini (2.26 Intel Core 2 duo; 2 GB RAM) and it has worked flawlessly. The program is easily customizable so if you need it to ignore certain stylistic errors it will do so. There are few errors that it will not detect, but if it were perfect, it would be the holy grail for anyone from scriptwriters to academic essayist - worth far more than a measly $40.

Many users have expressed their concerns regarding the interface and stability of this application. As far as i've discovered, the interface runs effortlessly in the menu bar and has yet to crash on neither my machine or my girlfriends with the latest version. As i've seen in these reviews, the developer cares about the reputation of this product, and what consumer doesn't like that type of care and attention. This is an excellent program! Keep up the good work.
